A Technical talk on " Index Coding for Big Data: Machine Learnings Meets Source Coding " was organized on Friday 2nd March 2018 at 11 A.M in the Seminar Hall ( ECE BLOCK 2). The talk was arranged by the IEEE Communication Society (NITC Chapter). Dr. Lakshmi Narasimhan T, Assistant Professor, IIT Palakkad delivered the lecture.




Technical Talk on Emerging Trends in the Design of High-Speed ADC's

A technical talk on " Emerging Trends in the Design of High-Speed ADC's " and an interactive session was organized on Saturday, 24 February 2018 at 10 A.M in the Seminar Hall(ECE Block 2). The talk was arranged by the IEEE Electron Devices Society (NITC Chapter). Joseph Palackal Mathew, B.Tech NIT Calicut(2006 Batch), MS UCLA(2012), Prasanth K (B.tech, NIT Calicut (2011 Batch), M.Tech IIT Madras(2015 Batch)) and Nithin Gopinath( B.Tech, NIT Calicut(2011 Batch)), presently working in Texas Instruments Bangalore delivered lectures and interacted with the student audience.


IEEE Communication Society Chapter at NITC

A chapter of IEEE Communication Society(ComSoc) started at NIT Calicut. This is the fourth ComSoc chapter under IEE Kerala Section. The inauguration of the society was done by Dr. Sameer S M, ChairPerson IEEE Kerala Section, Associate Professor, Head ECED, NIT Calicut on 3rd February 2018. Dr. LillyKutty Jacob, Chair IEEE ComSoc Kerala chapter, Associate Professor, NIT Calicut and Dr. A.V. Babu, Branch Chapter Advisor, Associate Professor, NIT Calicut delivered speeches in the inaugural function.



Technical Talk on 5G Standardization Efforts in India

A Technical talk on " 5G Standardization Efforts in India" was organized on Saturday 3rd February 2018 at 10 A.M in the Seminar Hall (ECE BLOCK 2). The talk was organized by the IEEE Community Society(NITC Chapter). Sri Anand M, Senior Research Engineer C-DOT, Govt. of India, Banglore delivered the lecture.


Cyber Security Workshop

Electronics and Communication Association (ECEA) conducted two-day cybersecurity workshop from 24/02/18 to 25/02/18. The workshop is handled by Cyber ops, a leading information Cyber Security company in Jaipur, India. The workshop had around 180 registrations from students of other colleges. Dr. LillyKutty Jacob, Professor, ECED, inaugurated the workshop at 9 A.M on 24/02/18.



A.N.Sasidhar Reddy bags the first prize for Best HardWare Project in KSCTSE TEKON-2018

A.N.Sasidhar Reddy (B.Tech (2015 Batch)) of ECE got the first prize for " Best Hardware Project" and a prize money of 40,000/- for the project titled as " A System for Communication and Locomotion for Locked-in Syndrome Patients" under brand category HATCHER'18 sponsored by NeST under contest category of the KSCSTE TEKON-2018 organized jointly by the KSCSTE and the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University during 23-25 February 2018. The project is done under the guidance of Mr.Raghu C V, Assistant Professor, ECED.


Joel Joy of ECED bags Prof. P. M. Jussay Gold Medal

Mr. Joel Joy (B140266EC), student of S8 ECE bags the Prof. P. M. Jussay Gold Medal for the year 2018, an award instituted by the NITC Alumni Association for the best outgoing student of NITC.


Dr. Lillykutty Jacob of ECED receives the Best Teacher Award

Dr. Lillykutty Jacob of ECED, NITC received the Best Teacher Award 2017 of IEEE Kerala section, the kerala chapter of world's largest professional association. the award was presented in the Annual General Meeting of IEEE Kerala Section held on 13th January 2018 at Thiruvananthapuram.


Dr. Sameer S. M. receives Distinguished Alumni Award 2017

Dr. Sameer S.M of ECED, NITC received the Distinguished Alumni Award 2017 from TKM college of Engineering. The award was presented during the Alumni Day celebration at TKM College of Engineering, Kollam on 26th January 2018..


ECED got DST- FIST project

The DST-FIST proposal submitted by ECED in Level-1 category has been approved. The department will receive a funding of Rs.2.35 Crores as part of this project for augmenting the research facilities in Wireless Communication and Signal Processing areas.


Won prizes in Student Project Competition

Two projects from Department of ECE got prizes in Student Project Competition in connection with National Technology Day Celebration 2017 at NIT Calicut

1. WiFi enabled Home Security Surveillance System using Raspberry Pi and IoT Module - Done by Sruthy S., S4 M.Tech (Electronics Design and Technology) - Second Prize

2. Low Cost Touch Screen Module - Done by Ajin T Pullan , Arun Sasi, Divya Krishnan, Irina Merin Baby, and Mithun Krishnan of S8 B.Tech ECE - Second Prize

Got selection to participate in the JENESYS program 2016

Mr.Abby P. Joby of S8 ECE has been selected to participate in the JENESYS program 2016 organized by the Govt. of Japan. JENESYS is a student exchange programme to promote mutual trust and understanding between Japan and India. It is a 9 day all expenses covered program that involves visit to observe cutting edge technologies, local industries, home stay or farm stay, keynote lectures and other programs.




Won First Prize in IoT challenge 2016

Our students of B.Tech S5 ECE Chikkam Uday, Pavan Kumar M, R.M. Alagappan, Venkatesh U and Vijay Anandh K won FIRST PRIZE in IoT Challenge 2016 organized by i3indya Technologies conducted at IIT Bombay on 18th December 2016.
